Black History Month comes to an end

We had a great time with Lucy on Tuesday, she taught us an African dance. We had to listen carefully to instructions and move in rhythm to the music.

Here is a reminder of some art work we did earlier in the month.

Golden Children

Congratulations Rhyley and Amelia

I am really pleased that Rhyley is enjoying coming to school. As the weeks have gone on he is finding lots of lovely new activities to try and he's tackling these with a smile.

Amelia is such a busy learner in FS2. She can always be found trying out something new or leading an activity with her friends.

Spooky fun in FS2

We've had lots of different activities linked to Hallowe'en this week. Have a look at all the fun we've had.

Playing and singing together

This is what some of the children got up to on Friday. Their organisation was superb and a delight to watch.

Outside fun with conkers

Before the heavy rain came we managed to get outside and play with the conker tray. Today we had a tube and some guttering to use too. Here is a photo collage of the children playing cooperatively.

Our sewing table

We have spent time learning how to sew this week. Threading the needle can be quite tricky but we didn't give up. Look at these children concentrating really hard.

Gold Book

Congratulations Fran and Riley

Riley has been showing how he can share the resources this week. He has created some very imaginative small world areas with the trains and vehicles.

I want to nominate Fran for the gold book this week because of her determination and motivation. She has been showing the rest of the class what a talented artist she is. We have really enjoyed looking at her art work.

Watch out where you park in FS2!

Yesterday the children used a new resource we have called the "Parking Attendant's belt"
Mrs Horn created a road on the floor, parking bays and a NO PARKING area. It cost £4 to park all day but if drivers didn't follow the rules, tickets were issued!!

The children really enjoyed this activity and make their own 'STOP, GO and SLOW DOWN' signs.

Faces

This week we are thinking about faces and noticing similarities and differences between each other. Today, Mia and Lily-Jay created art on the light panel using loose parts. One of the faces is Mrs Warner, can you work out which one?

Mark making outside

The children in FS2 love drawing and writing. Here they are using the clipboards and sharing the resources in our mark making trolley.

Can you spot Santa and the spider web?

Golden Children

Well done to Joshua and Harrison

Joshua has a great attitude towards school, he's always busy trying the new activities we have in the areas of our room. He is always kind to others too, sharing the toys he plays with.

I am over the moon that Harrison has settled into school. He is enjoying his time exploring his new classroom and is making lots of friends.

Investigating the sunflower

The investigation table has been very busy this week with children very keen to find out what there is to explore.

(If you have any sunflowers wilting and dying off, please save for us to use next year)

Finger Gym activity

Here is the new challenge. Lots of children have had go at picking off the leaves.

The Colours of Us

Like the rest of school, FS2 are finding out about Black History Month.

Today we read the story The Colours of Us. You can listen to the story and see the illustrations here.

We are trying to make the different shades of brown using the 4 colours Lena told us about.

Mark making with the Aquadoodle mats

We've been having fun using these Aquadoodle mats this week.

Gold Book

Well done Ethan and Ava for an excellent week

Ethan concentrated really hard when he painted his rocket ship. He described it so well I could see each part of the rocket in his painting.

Ava is  such a lovely friend to the children in FS2. She is always willing to offer help when they need it, a credit to my class.

Fun at the Finger Gym

We do a lot of work in Foundation Stage to strength fingers, hands and wrists and outside we focus on strengthing hands, arms and shoulders. This goes towards making sure children are ready and skilled to begin to write.

Here is the current Finger Gym activity - moving pom poms with different kinds of pegs.
