Congratulations Jack and Maisie

Jack and Maisie - These children are in the gold book because of their excellent thinking skills. Together, they made an obstacle course for the children. Jack explained how the children should move across it and Maisie re-built it as she went along. Super teamwork.

Here are the wondeful pieces of writing from this week's Big Talk, Big Write activity.

Thank you for your support, the children are clearly benefitting from additional writing practise at home.

It's a Wonderful World Big Talk

Today we listened to Louis Armstrong sing the song "It's a wonderful world"
Based on what they heard, the children drew what they imagined as he sang the words.

"I see trees of green"

"I see skies of blue and clouds of white"

"The colours of the rainbow so pretty in the sky"

We then looked at the illustrations from the book of the same name to compare with ours.

After, we went to the school garden to see if we could see and hear the same things from the song.

Daffodils
Frogspawn
Red branches
Skies of blue and clouds of white
Rainbow colour ball
A bee resting on the grass

Your Big Write activity is to write a sentence about what you can see or hear when you stand in your garden. I look forward to reading them.

Gold Book

Congratulations to Ella C and Jamie

It has been delightful teaching Ella this week. She was fascinated with the amount of ice she found in the outdoor classroom. She collected it all up and watched excitedly how it changed in the sun. Ella was just like Ria, reflecting on what she already knows and what she wants to find out next.

Jamie has gone out of his way this week to be a thoughtful member of the class. He helped to find the cups in the home corner, even though he hadn't been in there. He tidied the sand, even though he hadn't been in there either. When I praised him for all his help, Jamie replied " I want to be co-operative just like Cora" and you are Jamie, thank you.

Our first Big Talk sentence

Just look at these super sentences. I'm delighted the children have used phonic skills to sound out words. Sometimes the spellings the children write are not conventional but that is ok, often they haven't been taught that particular spelling pattern.

This week we learned how to spell 'boy' and 'are'

Here are all the wonderful examples.

We are so proud of you!!!!
