Matilda the book bus

We had a lovely treat today, Matilda came to visit and tell us all about the work she will be doing in Malawi. Matilda and her driver are going to Africa on a big ship to take books to children living in remote villages. We donated some of our books, hoping the children love them just as much as we do.

Mr Gordon in assembly telling everyone about the work the charity does in Africa and South America.

Finding Africa on the globe. It's a long, long way to go.

Matilda

Having a look inside and spotting the cheeky monkey!

Boxes of books donated by generous schools. These will be going to Malawi for the children to read.

We wish Matitda and Mr Gordon a safe onward journey.

Gold Book

Congratulations Olivia and Lexi

Olivia comes to school with a smile on her face ready for a fun packed day of learning in FS2. She always demonstrates kindness towards her friends and is co-operative when playing with others. A pleasure to have in class.

Lexi - I love having Lexi in FS2, she is always busy learning somewhere. Lexi enjoys exploring and finding things out, she thinks about what she can do, showing me she is a reflective learner, just like Ria.

World Book Day

We had a lovely day yesterday, the children looked amazing in their costumes. Thank you so much for all your support.

The morning started off with a reading session with lots of adults staying. The atmosphere was wondeful, thank you for coming along.

Mrs Warner dressed up as Little Red Hen and brought her bread machine. Together we added all the ingredients to make bread, just like in the story.

The bread was delicious. Did you enjoy yours?

I hope you can spend your voucher on one of the £1 books. Bring it to school if you do, I'd love to see which one you bought.

Snowy fun

We enjoyed a little play in the snow.

Big Talk

Based on the World Book Day celebrations, the Big Talk homework is also linked to nursery rhymes and fairy-tales.

I'd like you to watch this video of Katie reading the story "The Jolly Postman"

See if you can make a list of the characters in the story or
draw a map of the journey around Fairytale Land.

Gold Book

Congratulations to Harrison and Rusha

Harrison showed such determination and perseverance this week when he tackled the writing challenge. Using his knowledge of phonic sounds, he independently wrote about the picture on the page. My smile was huge, I am so very proud of you Harrison. You have a brilliant attitude to learning.

Rusha created a chair this week using large paper. She found what she needed from other areas of the classroom and worked on her art all day. It was amazing and she proudly showed it to the class. Rusha was resourceful, just like Rashan.
